Shawnda Freer
Coordinator of Community and Congregational Care

What do you do?

My role at UCC is to facilitate connections for those within our congregation and the broader community in order that we may reflect the love of Christ as we care for one another.

What do you love most about your job?

I enjoy connecting men, women, and children in service to others while utilizing their unique, God-given sets of gifts and abilities. There is beauty in witnessing the body of Christ be the Church as we love and care for one another.

A little bit about your background?

I was raised in Grant County and as a child attended a small, local church where I was introduced to Jesus. I accepted Christ as my Savior at a young age and have sought to follow Him most of my life. My professional background is in counseling, and I have spent most of my career in mental health counseling and higher education. My husband Keith and I have been married for 30+ years, and we raised two children: Meghan who is now with Jesus and Andrew who is navigating young adulthood. We’ve attended UCC since 2005.

What are some of your favorite things?

Spending time with family and friends, long walks, reading, deep conversations, time outdoors in sunshine & warm temperatures, and a big glass of iced tea!
