The Word of Life (1 John 1:1-4)

Sermon Questions for further discussion

  1. John writes to the church as the character of God and person of Christ are “under assault.” Where do you see this happening today? Where might you be participating in an assault on the character of God?
  2. Why is John the pre-eminent tutor on authentic Christian life? When do you become concerned that you may not be living an authentic life of faith? How have you addressed such concerns?
  3. Why is John so zealous to protect the message that He was given from Jesus?
  4. How will John’s proclamations in this letter to the churches make his and their joy complete? Does the idea of John directing us into “right beliefs, behaviors, and relationships” sound more like burdensome work or an abiding joy?
