Where is God? (Psalm 139:1-12)

  1. Though you may know He is present, when does God seem distant to you? What in your heart is working to create this “fallacy of distance” in your mind?
  2. Is it helpful to visualize God standing beside you as you prepare to knowingly violate His commandment? Why is the Serpent so quick to argue that this cannot be true?
  3. God’s presence changes the battlefield of sanctification. How does recognizing His presence alter temptation? Guilt? Fear? Loneliness? Worry? Despair?
  4. Compare the life of Jacob and Joseph. How does the recognition of God’s constant presence inform their attitude toward their circumstances?
